About the editor

My name is Julia Temlyn, and I am a professional writer, editor, and community moderator. I am also the mother of an angel baby.

My husband and I have been married since January 2003, and have been trying to conceive since April 2007. We were overjoyed when I became pregnant in April 2008. However, our joy soon turned to tears when we learned that I would eventually lose the baby. I miscarried in June 2008, at approximately 12 weeks.

A year later, I'm still learning to deal with it, day by day. And I know I'm not alone. That's why A Mom at Heart is here.

About the site

I created this site to fill a need for something other than the typical “mommy” blogs and sites. After two years of trying to conceive, and a miscarriage last year (June 2008), I don’t feel like I fit in some of the “mommy” communities because I do not have a child here on Earth.

Many mommy blogs and forums skip straight from Trying to Conceive to Pregnancy/Pregnant, with no options for those of us who have conceived, who have been pregnant, but then have experienced the loss of our babies.

To some who have children, we are not really mommies. To others who have never been pregnant, we have experienced something they have not. Where do we fit?

I proudly proclaim that I am a mommy, even though my child is in Heaven. And so are you.

The last year has been a difficult one. In my search for others like me I have been fortunate enough to come across some wonderful resources, including articles, sites, blogs, online communities, and products (accessories, jewelry, books, etc.) for others who have also experienced such an incredible loss.

Though there are some wonderful resources out there, there are actually so many that they can be difficult to find. You simply find one and then jump from their blog roll or links to the next, and so on. I will be taking the time to review and compile these resources all in one area, here at A Mom at Heart.

I am also looking forward to occasionally sharing my thoughts and feelings here, and would love to see this site expand to a community blog for others who have experienced this loss.
